Participant expectations are evolving, as are the responsibilities of event organizers. Providing clear access information and promoting sustainable mobility solutions have become integral parts of organizing responsible events. With these new access maps, the SwissTech Convention Center continues its commitment to delivering a smoother, more inclusive, and more environmentally responsible participant experience.
Accessibility is a key component of the participant journey and begins long before attendees arrive at the venue. At a time when expectations around sustainable mobility continue to grow, providing clear and accessible travel information has become an important consideration for event organizers.
With this in mind, the SwissTech Convention Center has developed a new series of access maps designed to enhance the visitor experience while encouraging more sustainable travel choices. To simplify journey planning, we created three complementary maps offering different levels of information:
- A European map highlighting rail connections and the main gateways to Lausanne.
- A national map presenting the principal transportation routes across Switzerland.
- A local map showing how to easily reach the SwissTech Convention Center from key locations throughout Lausanne.
Beyond their practical value, these maps form part of a broader reflection on sustainable mobility within the events industry. By highlighting rail connections and public transportation options, they help participants make informed travel decisions while contributing to the reduction of the environmental impact associated with events.
Developed as part of the planning process for a future event of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS), this project reflects our commitment to integrating sustainability considerations from the earliest stages of the participant journey. The visual design of the maps was created in collaboration with Loris Grillet, whose expertise helped transform complex information into clear, intuitive, and user-friendly tools.
Through this initiative, the SwissTech Convention Center continues to advance its commitment to a participant experience that is smoother, more accessible, and more responsible.
