World Congress of Science Journalists 2019: A “tremendous success”

The 2019 World Congress of Science Journalists took place at the SwissTech Convention Center on 1-5 July, gathering 1100+ participants from all over the world

The 11th World Conference of Science Journalists attracted delegates from 83 countries to Lausanne. A new record in female science journalists attending was achieved with 60% women attending!

There were 337 speakers to choose from in 63 sessions, nine luncheons, five press conferences and seven workshops. The Exhibition space hosted booths from 38 exhibitors, showcasing advances in science and media technologies.

On each day of the conference, held on the campus shared by EPFL and the University of Lausanne, there were  50 daily lunchtime visits to scientific laboratories to meet researchers. Many delegates also took advantage of one or more of the 30 field trips on offer.
