On December 19th, 2024, the SwissTech Convention Center will be honored to welcome Claude Nicollier, Marco Sieber and other star guests for an exceptional and historic evening. The SwissTech Convention Center and SwissApollo invite you to enjoy two hours of enchantment.
During this unique evening, we will celebrate the 80th birthday of our national hero, Claude Nicollier, by retracing the highlights of his professional and private life. The veteran of four space flights will personally welcome his successor, Marco Sieber, to the stage. This will be our new Swiss astronaut’s first public appearance. It will also be a moment of exchange between the two men, a historic meeting marked by a symbolic handover.
We get to know the likeable Marco Sieber better, with his dreams and personal goals as an astronaut of the Artemis generation. He will certainly have the chance to go to the Moon one day, and maybe even to Mars, a prospect that sounded like science fiction in our minds until recently.
Musical interludes will be provided by the famous SWISS Band, making the evening even more festive and unforgettable. The Zurich-based band, founded in 1958 by Swissair employees, has won acclaim for its many concerts in Switzerland and abroad, and has been awarded a number of prestigious prizes, including the “Prix Walo”.
In the second half of the evening, the SWISS Band will play an hour’s concert of its repertoire of Funk, Rock, Swing, Soul and film music.
