Interview with the director and event manager of the SwissTech Convention Center.

‘Planète Santé’ Live will take place from the 24th to the 27th of November 2016 at the SwissTech Convention Center. Meet the director of the Forum and the project manager at the STCC.
Organizing an event that is expecting around 30,000 visitors is a challenge that Planète Santé Live and the SwissTech Convention Center team have experienced in recent months.
Planète Santé Live has more than 80 booths, 100 conferences, and 6000m2 of exhibitions and even entertainment dedicated to living a healthy life.

While the Planète Santé Live is being set up at the SwissTech Convention Center and the event organizers continue working hard, we wanted to share with you some of their missions.

Therefore, we met Bertrand Kiefer, director of Planète Santé Live and Marie Blain, event manager at the SwissTech Convention Center, which spoke about the main challenges in organizing an event of this size and importance.

Mr. Kiefer as the director of Planète Santé, could you tell us more about your forum?

It’s a new kind of Forum. The guests are at the center of the event and can participate and live new experiences in every booth. That way participants will have a better understanding of their health.

What are the biggest challenges on organizing this kind of even?

Our main goal as organizers is to reach a positive financial balance in order to ensure our sustainability. The main challenge we have experienced so far is to ensure having a positive image towards the press.

This event is held every two years. How long in advance do you have to organize this event?

We will start organizing the 2018 event as soon as the 2016 event is over. We require 2 years of work.

For such big event I imagine you need resources, especially, human-kind. How many of you delegate before and during the event?

We are a team of three; however, a few months before the event we double the staff.

This is the second year you perform your event at the SwissTech Convention Center. What do you cherish the most on the realization of the event here?

We choose the STCC especially for the ‘spirit’ of the building; its architecture and modernity, which is extremely pleasant. It is not always the case that the building suits the visitors more than the exhibitors. The genuine atmosphere and professionalism of the teams are highly appreciated. Marie Blain from the SwissTech Convention Center is the person in direct contact with Mr. Kiefer and his team. They work together to anticipate all the needs and requirements for the event.

Marie, what do you think is crucial in your relationship with Planète Santé Live to organize this event?

Developing a truthful partnership and excellent understanding of our mutual needs and constraints. It is important to understand not only how the event will unfold but also be able to offer the best solutions and allow the organizers to achieve their goals. For this project, the STCC and Planète Santé have been working together for over a year now.

What should you be particularly careful in when setting up Planète Santé at the SwissTech?

Our main mission is the safety of guests and property. Welcoming exhibitors and thousands of visitors implies serious logistics.

Marie, one last question, what do you like the most about your job?

Building up and creating an event, especially to make it an unforgettable one!

Many thanks to both of you: Bertrand Kiefer and Marie Blain for your time and responses. I can conclude that both of you have the same vision: bring a special experience too all the visitors of Planète Santé Live!
