Where are you from? I was born and raised in Geneva but I am of Peruvian and Spanish origin.
Tell me about your work background! I graduated in hospitality management at the Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne. My first professional experience in events was at SIHH, (one of the biggest fine watchmaking fairs), where I was organising private events for companies. I have worked at the Geneva convention bureau, where I eventually took on the corporate sales manager role, connecting with companies all over the world.
What excites you about this job? Bringing together big events like SIBOS was very exciting for me. The connection between the corporations, the city and the different partners is powerful. The economic impact for our region is something which also makes me very proud and happy to be in this industry. I worked on the Africa CEO forum, which created some valuable and exciting new connections between our part of Switzerland and the African countries involved.
What are you hoping to achieve or learn in the next few months? I am particularly looking forward to making new connections for the EPFL community and creating value through the meeting of innovative thinkers from our campus and the external world. The Lausanne region has much to offer both in terms of academic prestige, with EPFL, UNIL and the university hospital, as well as a fantastic Unesco recognised, Riviera, full of historical and gastronomical delights and I am aiming to put Lausanne on the map for new future events.
What hobbies or interests do you have? I am a young father so my baby-girl has become my main interest. Otherwise, I like sports. With my Spanish origins I am a huge football fan and my Swiss side made me become a Roger Federer enthusiast (I also like Nadal but don’t tell it to my colleagues!)
